I am looking at Nissan Leafs right now . There are quite a few 1 owner from new 2022/2023 sub 20k miles for sale. All one owner.

Is there a way of looking at who the first one owner was . Helen Smith or Europe car?

I did Ask a dealer yesterday who was a bit vague, so I guess it's ex rental fleet.

Is there a look up paid or free ?

Thanks

Were you at the dealers premises with the car or was this "ask" over the phone or email? most dealers these days are very sensitive to GDPR issues and go over the top with it but if you are physically there then there is no problem with them showing you the v5. For the same reasons there isnt really and easy way to do a search yourself but they should be honest with you so asking "has the car been registered to a company or a private individual?" and similar questions shouldnt be an issue. Anyone being evasive just move on. There are loads of them around

At an independent dealer who was fairly straightforward until I asked the question.
Then he wasn't sure and v5 was not on premises etc . I said ok did you buy the car at auction or take in Part ex .

At this point I chose to move on as the conversation felt different.

I am arranging to see another tomorrow. I will ask again the same question. It's just odd there are so many 1 owner with similar numbers plates for sale.

Have you seen jonathan porterfield on youtube? He often covers EV cars at auction, eg. When addison lee were selling off the ID4 taxis, he covered a few of the auctions.
He may have made a video about the leafs you’re looking at now a few months ago and who was the “previous owner” selling them off.

I don’t recall seeing a Nissan Leaf on any of the rental companies lots, and I rent every few weeks for work so have become familiar with what most of them have on fleet.

Someone else suggested Motability which I think is more likely than ex-Europcar / other.

Dealers don’t usually wants to admit any car is ex-fleet as it makes their job of selling it harder.

Thanks for that video. Shoreham is 25 mins from me and the cars I am looking at local to me so it's very possible that is the source and the finance company the owner.

I have actually decided to go down to Shoreham this week and see how the place works. You can buy as a private buyer .

They have 4 leafs going through over the next week all from the same financial company.

I wonder why the fellow in the video uses Shoreham. Looking where he lives it could not be further from his house if he triedsmile

He has done it from their online portal so no need to attend in person.

Mobilize will be Nissan PCP or contract hire cars so worth checking the history. The benefit of Motabilty cars is there is no reason to clock / block them and they have Nissan history. Problem is I don’t think you can buy Motability cars as they are normally trade account holders only.

ex-Motability is a good shout as above, I'll add ex-local council pool cars also. I know North Somerset had a few Leaf's on the books historically.
