Are electric cars being stolen?

My mate had his ioniq 5 stolen by someone using the Gameboy key emulator thing. He had 4 airtags in it, found it in Tooting and stole it back but the damage they'd done ripping it apart looking for trackers meant Hyundai had it for 3 months fixing it. Hyundai then offered to sell him the software update that prevents it for (I think) 50 quid, cheeky b

Not far from me there is a couple of roundabouts on a dual carriageway where Police are actively trying to stop stolen cars being raced , at the weekends.
It's a filmed event on social media with drivers in Face coverings and hoodies, you get the idea .
The police report in the local paper said it was predominantly EV's.

Mate of mine had his L494 RRS and Ioniq 5 nicked on the same night. He thinks they discovered they could get into the Hyundai by accident while trying to relay his RRS.
They spent 45 minutes trying to steal the Range Rover with a steering lock and eventually succeeded by driving down the road with the lock still on then cutting the wheel to get the lock off. The contents of the Range Rover (car seats, documents etc) were found dumped in a lay-by but the car was never seen again.
They did find the Hyundai about a few miles away with a completely flat battery, the interior trashed and the windscreen smashed from the inside. Assumed used to ferry the crims round for a few nights before it went dead.
Insurance wrote it off I believe in the end.
