I wouldn't go in that hard, I'd save that for later as that's quite a good card. Maybe go for something like CB650F

True did escalate pretty hard there
Naturally the RD 350 YVPS would be a more evolutionary route.
Or YZF 750 SP for softening up on the R1 suggestion

I owned a CB500V R plate and it was a little too good for a commuter, made in Italy. Also perhaps a decent counter suggestion
First ever was a NSR125R, not such a good trump counter card

For reasons that I still don't understand even decades later - I never really went the two stroke route. CB125, then I think GPZ305 followed by various bigger GPZs, Fireblades, R1s etc.

Good choices as I got older, but bizarre ones when I was younger!
