Hello,
When joining Pistonheads 20 odd years ago I never imagined I would be posting in the Ferrari section but here we are.
Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to buy a 2008 599. Below is the car in its natural habitat about 5 minutes after collection.
The car has about 41k miles and had benefitted from a clutch in the last 3k miles as well as the usual list of reassuringly expensive bills in the history file. It also has HGTE wheels and exhaust tips if not the rest of that pack.
The only thing wrong with it was said HGTE wheels. They were the wrong colour, hiding the beautiful split rim design in a dark spot where the wheels should be.
Luckily / annoyingly the day after I got the car home the drive was being dug up so the garage would be cut off for a week. This gave me the chance to remove the wheels and have them refinished in my preferred colour. Here you can just see a yellow calliper peeking out of the gloom:
Now the car has silver wheels and looks much better because of it:
So far I have driven the car mostly on long journeys and been enjoying the noise and the sheer acceleration available up to some very silly speeds. Glitches so far have included:
- Engine control system failure warning: - Very probably a loose filler cap - cleared the code and confirmed the cap was indeed loose
- Stall then TPMS, Manettino and F1 system errors: - Hopefully just needs a new brake light switch which will arrive tomorrow
I have a day off tomorrow so will attempt the brake light switch swap along with a new F1 relay (nothing wrong with it but seems cheap insurance). I also have an Android Auto radio to fit so I can use Waze.
Over the weekend I will get back to driving it!

Did that car come from the Ormskirk area? I think I recognise it as one I looked at back in June.
It has a great service history, the last owner spent a fortune ! It was on EBay at the time, with terrible photos !

There is space for me at 6'6" but could do with the seat being a couple of inches lower. That does not seem to be easily possible.Is it roomy?
