Has anyone run one of these, yes I know the range is around 70 miles but they are cheap to pcp and I can fit one under the kitchen window. Or should I just buy a 3k leaf. I only want to use it locally as it might end up cheaper than the main car.

We had one for a few years and I absolutely loved it. I was thinking only this week that as my wife is a bit annoyed at me always using her car (a Smart ForFour) I should consider buying one again.

Genuinely fun to drive around town, so easy to park, and quite nice inside.

Edited to add, you mention leasing one, but they don’t make them any more, do they?

Just bought a 2019 one into stock, haven’t had one before. Impressed by how nice it is inside etc for a small car, haven’t taken it for a proper drive yet

22kW AC charging a nice to have too.

We acquired this 2023 convertible about a month ago, it’s affectionately nicknamed Noddy!

Absolutely loving it as a city runaround. Outside it’s tiny, inside it feels a lot larger than it has any right to be and is solidly built. It’s pleasantly nippy but can crash a little over bumps. We never worry about the range (shows 74 miles on a full charge) because if range is an issue we take something else. The interior is dated and it’s very apparent that they simply stuck a battery and electric motor in an old ICE design (it actually has an old school ratchety handle handbrake and the entertainment system is somewhat lacking) … but who cares, it’s great. We’ll likely keep this for a while and then trade it up to a Smart #2 at some point if it proves to be a worthy successor. We love it and it has quickly become the go to set of keys for most short journeys.

How do you find the convertible with the roof closed, is there much noise ? I’ve had a for four as a hire car many years ago and thought it wasn’t bad for its size.

You’ll need to take the following with a pinch of salt as it’s early days for our ownership and we’ve not owned another convertible or a fixed roof Smart for comparison but, with the roof closed, I struggle to tell that it’s not a fixed roof car. There doesn’t appear to be any increased wind noise around the roof area. When fully open the roof does eat into the limited boot space but, like the low range, that isn’t a problem due to how we use the car.

The bars that run along the top of the doors between the A and B pillar are removable and stow in the boot to give the fully open top experience. Afraid we are yet to do this so no photos or further comment on that feature.
