Just go to a garage. Get it diagnosed. Doesnt need a main dealer.
Weigh up the pros and cons of paying to get it fixed rather than how much WBAC or similar will offer you on it.

Smoke in the engine bay is not usually a good thing.

Maybe an Italian style tune up (rag the bejeezus out of it) and maybe a dose of injector cleaner etc? Have you removed the plugs? Dropped any oil from the sump?

Check for metal flakes in oil filter or sump oil.

Is the fuel pump/filter old? Could be starved....?

Also the smoke in the engine bay - has the inlet manifold cracked?
