Has presented his last grand prix after 9 years on ITV (yikes im getting old, feels like only yesterday i was watching it on the bbc)

At the end of the show they showed some of his best bits.

Quite emotional at the end actually, you could tell he was holding back the tears.

Has it really been 9 years!

I don't actively dislike him (i.e. not in the same way that one loathes James Allen) - despite there being something slightly awkward/annoying about his presentation style -- but I can't say I'll miss him either - he was really just a link man.

Either way - best of luck Jim.

I'm afraid I do actively dislike JR, total waste of space in F1 coverage - never appeared genuinely enthusiastic (unless plugging some football match on later).

Anyway - I won't go on but good riddance - just need to get rid of 'the cock' & the ads, & bring back live qualifying & it'll be just about passable.

Rant over.

Very polished link man. Irritating in his "yer man Wan Montoya" comments, but on the whole has done a good job. Steve Rider - let's see whether he is still as passionate about motor racing as he was on the Beeb

I don't know if he is still invloved but I think I heard that in the Sierra RS500/BMW M3 years of the BTCC coverage it was his production company that did the coverage.

Yes you're right, him and Barrie Hinchcliffe - I'm not sure who produces it now though

Be nice if James Allen actually commentated on the race that was running in front of his eyes rather than rambling on about paddock stories and peripheral issues. Oh, and while I'm at it how many summaries does one race need during the course of the race itself - one day he'll summarise his surrmaries.

AND why wasn't qualifying for Japan and CHina re-run at the normal time for qualifying i.e. Saturday lunchtime.

Let's have a whip round for the Beeb to get F1 back.

Rant over....

They had a very important omnibus edition of Coronation St and the ratings winner "Worlds funniest animals" to show instead.
