Picked up this piece this weekend whilst we were in Antwerp. We'd put a bid in on an auction but had to leave before the auction finished. I hadn't realised it was finished metal, it's really heavy
I carry you, you carry me by Su-Yin Wang
It has two flags on rice paper with it,
One flag says “Love”
The other says "life passes like a dream".
The phrase is famously derived from the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bais work, Spring Night Banquet in the Peach and Plum Garden, where he writes, "And life is like a brief dream; how much joy can we truly have?" It encourages cherishing the present moment despite the fleeting nature of time.
She'd also done some amazing artwork on rice paper, landscapes using the properties of the paper to soak the paint and blur the edges
but we didn't win any of those.
