Not so much my son's health issue but mine/ours!

It was 545 tonight and bang up light as day (even though its now pitch black with the clocks).

Is this normal? Do you get up with an TV independent child in the house.

I think it could be bladder related tbh, he has milk before bed still, do we cut this out?

Not sure I totally follow you but that might be the lack of sleep... but if a child regularly wakes early they probably don't need the amount of sleep you think they do, so make bedtime later, and even then it might take a while to establish new pattern.

Need to work out why they are getting up first, if like you say its for the toilet then make the last drink earlier and encourage a visit to the toilet just before bedtime

If they are wide awake then maybe they have had enough sleep and bed time needs to be a little later

If they're getting up to watch TV then ban it before 7.

I would start doing bedtime a bit later and try to cut out the milk before bed if possible. In some people it can mildly irritate the bladder, not noticable but might make them need the bathroom earlier than they would otherwise.

They do usually grow out of waking up early though, especially as they approach preteen!

Fairly obvious to me at least that if a kid knows they're getting TV as soon as they wake up then they're going to probably be getting up and stuck in as early as possible.

My 6 year old sleeps until around 6.45-7 (though the occasional sleep in until 7.30-45 - though he knows not to shout out until his clock turns yellow, which is at 7.25 during the school week. Until that point he listens to a Yoto story box during the week and on Saturday and Sunday we allow a time locked ipad that he can watch in bed for a bit longer to give us a slight lie in. I've noticed he will wake earlier on the weekend as he knows the tablet is waiting (though it doesn't work until 7am).

We aim to have him in bed by 8pm, and I'd say most of the time he's asleep by 8.30-45.

Of course you do. You're a parent.

A 6 year old shouldn't be 'TV independent'.

If "TV Independent" means they can watch TV when they want, including when they get up early then that's the first thing to knock on the head.

That doesn't really mean much without knowing what time they go to bed in an evening. I know parents bemoaning how early their kids wake but they still have them asleep by 7pm because they want a quiet evening.

Is there something in the environment that’s waking him up? E.g. We have a bus stop outside the house; we get woken up by the first bus at 6am - chugging away as it sits there waiting to depart.

Our children often woke early but it has varied over the years; if it is truly “on the dot” and has been for 5 years that seems strange!

TV I'm more than sure isn't his first thought im sure when he wakes up rather than go back to bed.

Nothing as far as I can hear/see would be waking him up, its now dark as well so its not the sun. Maybe birds are a bit loud so it may be that.

He goes to be around 7/730, maybe this is too early.

Sorry but how do you know TV isn't his first thought? As other have said, independently watching TV at that age may not be the best idea.

Our 7 year old son was consistently waking up at that time when he was 6. We worked out it was when things were bothering him at school. Now he sleeps well (circa 6:30-7) and school is fine so for us the two things are linked but every child is different. He was in bed last year for about 7:30 in the evenings.

I think at this age everything is going on, I get it. It's absolute hell when I can't sleep.

This morning he needed to drop off his own kids....I think we should review diet situation, we've been eating later in the evenings the last few nights at 6ish so could be this.

I don't get the TV Issue, what else do you do with your kids (While you work) before they get ready for school as I'm all ears.

I have to ask why did you have kids?

If your idea i being a parent is dumping them in front of the TV so you can get on with your life, I seriously have to question why you became a parent.

My grandson who admittedly is only nine months old gets played with gets involved with things, when meals are being made he is nearby entertaining himself. The television has never been on when he comes to our house.

This is about the 4th thread like this. He is almost ALWAYS the cause of the issues and won’t hear a word of the advice he gets.

OP take your head out of your arse.

Pop a clock in the room and teach him the time he's allowed to get up, obviously going to the toilet being the exception.

No TV before 7 in our house so our kid if awake before then either reads, plays with non screen toys or does crafts / art etc.

She's also very welcome to come get into our bed for morning snuggles.

It might not be the TV OP, try a later bed time say 8pm, stories before bed and talk to him about his day, thrash out any worries he might have. We have found this leads to better sleep. Its the start of a new school class for him, big changes.
Santa will be here soon.
Lots of excitement building, he's just a kid.
