Why can't new people post in NP&E?

I understand that politics is divisive, but I don't understand why there's a post and account age limit? Seems a bit odd just to apply that to one area of the forum.

I'm only posting this because I looked at the Trump thread, and it appears to be all toxic lefties with TDS. How is that allowed?

I think it’s to stop banned people from jumping straight back in.

The censorship on ph is a joke at times.

I've honestly got no idea why anybody would want to spend any time in the Trump thread. It's one that I avoid at all costs. If there's one thing I hate more than Trump it's the people who are obsessed with talking about him.

I think your final paragraph demonstrates precisely why. Not that it helps, but it avoids random newbies/bots ‘joining’ just to raise hackles.

NP&E can turn any topic into a variation on the same argument between the same people.

It’s the worst part of the forum as insults and arguments go. Hence a lot of bans handed out to people who then create a new account (or already had a fresh one waiting) and carry on in the same vein.

That is the main reason for the minimums iirc.
