I’m sick to death of every time I turn the radio, tv on, it is only bad news, Russia, trump, diesel prices, food prices, AI wiping civilisation out…it feels to me that the world is collapsing and going to hell.

I know the answer is not to look at the news, turn 5 live off etc, but is there anywhere that actually gives out good news, humorous news? Things that might make you feel positive about the world?
I listen to a few comedy podcasts, but does anyone have any thoughts?
I do catastrophise all the time, and automatically jump to the worst scenario, but my god, I feel dreadful.

Anyone got any good news they want to share?

Happy Friday.

I saw two teenage boys holding hands the other day, guessing they're about GCSE age, and I thought how lucky we are to live in a country where you can be who you want to be without fear of persecution.

Yes mate, Man City are going to get taken to the cleaners and probably relegated to League 2.

I'd like to recommend a book to you, really helped me to stop my head jumping aimlessly around a fantastical timeline, "The Power of Now, E.Tolle". Ground yourself in the only time that exists, that's the very second you're in, take joy in small insignificant things, slow it all down... It isn't the mad rush we're told it is.

Good news to share? I woke up today, the sun came through the window, my body feels good and I'm ready for whatever small pleasures I can find underneath the stones I decide to turn.

Your mission today, start a chat with an old contact and reconnect, ask how they are. Or give someone a smile.

Have a good day champ.

Stay away from the news, stay away from NP&E on here, especially threads where the professional 'argue with strangers' types are. You can't change anything, it will only make you feel angry and/or sad.

Spend good time with family and friends, get outside walking/biking, whatever, go for a coffee or a pint.

Chin up!

I follow r/GoodNewsUK on reddit.

I don't necessarily agree that everything posted there is good news but it's generally a decent antidote to mainstream news.

See this a lot where I am, fills me with some hope that as a civilisation are are moving forwards in some areas.
The fact that my youngest can discuss her 'crushes' (male & female) with her mates as she tries to understand her sexuality, without any mickey-taking, just love and support, is such a lovely thing to see.

My 2 year old has started talking, his big brother is non verbal with very low communication.

So it's quite special to be greeted every day with daadddddyyyyyyy.

In some ways it has made the second time around better as we are so much happier with every minor development than most parents who just naturally assume their child will develop.

I'm not dead yet.
I get to do stuff for a bit longer, yay!

The best advice is to lay off the doom pron. 99.99% of the stuff the mainstream media vomit at you will not directly affect you, ever. The rest is stuff that you have no control over anyway. Just live your own life.

This 100%

I used to read the daily mail, I don't now.

My good news is I'm recovering from heart valve surgery, in a few weeks time I'll be able to do things I've not been able to do for many years.

Jogging, weights, snowboarding, wakeboarding, cycling, a kickabout on the field, walk up a mountain, run for a bus lol

We took on a 4 year old rescue dog last weekend. She is settling into family life nicely, and has decompressed well from life in the shelter.

Work to do on her recall and bounciness greeting strangers, but so far, so good.

Walked the 5 mins to our nearest play area yesterday after school. Mum, dad, 2 kids and the pooch, all relatively healthy. Had a good kick about with the football, sun was shining. It didn't cost anything. It felt like one of those little moments I'll look back on and think that was a good moment in time.

Back to worrying what kind of future they'll inherit as soon as you open the news.

Keeping it on Pistonheads core subject...

I replaced the power steering pump on my car last night with a secondhand unit.

For once, my spannering went without a hitch - no stuck/sheared/rusted bolts, no intractable electric plugs, no breaking of small plastic parts.

This is not only good news, it is unprecedented!

I've bought a house. Not a grand house by any means, but a modest house with a garage big enough for my car (of course). My mortgage takes me to 71 as it stands today.

However, this is great news! A failed business in 2009 rendered a full restart of life after loss of property and other assets. After renting for years now I've rebuilt enough to live somewhere that belongs to me. I'm very much looking forward to decorating again (although I'm sure I'll change my tune soon enough).

However, it's not a patch on this...! thumbup

Had the best round of golf I've had for ages yesterday, such a rare thing to finish the round with the ball I started with.

Just coming out of the tail end of the lurgy so that warm happy feeling of not feeling like death is with me for a while.

I try and live for the day while planting seeds to make the future as good as the present.

Don't really bother with the news, anything that I need to know about someone will undoubtedly tell me about.

I saw my oncology consultant yesterday

I'm still cancer free, the operation I had in June to deal with a secondary cancer was a complete success

So whilst I still dealing with the effects of four years of treatment

It seems like a huge win
