I'm getting carpets and underlay replaced soon.
I've taken on the task of removing the old stuff and been told by the carpet bods that it'd be great if all the staples used to attach the old underlay were removed.

So far I've been using a flat screwdriver to prise them up a bit and pliers or mole grips to yank them out.

Is there a better tool for the job?

Whilst I have never used them, this sounds like a job for vicegrips with a slide hammer attached?

(Please find a different supplier, but you get the idea)

Smash them further in with a lump hammer so they don’t stick out. HTH

Thanks all

I've ordered the ones from Amazon.

@Simon, yes I have but as an office worker I had in mind one of those puny ones you use for removing small staples out of 10 bits of paper.

@Peanut Gallery. That might be overkill, I want to remove the staples, not the whole floor biggrin

Yeah me too.
I can imagine how sore my hands would be after removing several hundred staples using those little things though.
