I would like to incorporate a 2nd single garage (6m x 4m) alongside the existing one, a bit of googling has suggested these build costs (I’m planning to employ the separate trades as opposed to giving the whole job to a builder.

Do they look to be in the right ballpark?

Existing garage

What I’d like to achieve

Blocks approx 30 m2 / (10 blocks / m2, @£2.5 / block) £750
Groundworks £2000
Concrete slab£4000
Cost to lay blocks£600
Rafters £500
Roof labour and slate £4000
Render walls £500
Garage door £3000

Have you thought about knocking that one down and building a double timber one instead?

Can't help with the other costs, but I've just had a 7' tall x 8' wide electric sectional garage door fitted for £2600.

I have a 6m x 6m gargae, I extended it by 3m so added a 3m x 6m section. It cost me about £12k in materials as I did everything myself. Materials are mental. Roof trusses are about £100 each so my 6 were £600. My slab was only £500 worth of concrete though. My garage door was under £1500 (again self fit), lintal was a beast though and £1330 for it!.

Before (bin to guage how far out I was coming.

Structure finished.

Ive never layed a brick before or built anything so I had to use google a few times.

I'd say miles out.
Cost to lay blocks, £2000?
Render walls £2000. The render alone will be £300.
Roof sounds too cheap
Roof membrane?
Roof valley?
Wall plate and straps?
Eves, soffits?
Guttering, drainpipe, soakaway.
Electrics.

These are my costs. No labour in there. I also missed quite a few trips to toolstation and screwfix off as I forgot to add them. And trips there always seem to be atleast £100.
My roof tiles, side window and side door were used which is why they were so cheap.

I would say around £15k is more like it.

I had two electric rollers installed in a non standard colour with a new centre prop for £2,799

Is the £3k for 2 doors?

No, assumed cost for one, although I’d prob charge the existing garage door too, so correct by mistake!

I did 6.5 x 7.2, materials and grab truck was about 1500, so you might be light there once labour is added.
The slab was 1700, so I think you're over there.

I went with brick rather than block, but sand & cement was more like £500 alone, I'd double the labour on topof that.
Can't help with roof, but 500 for rafters sounds cheap.
Render, assuming you have a long wall to do I'd say at least 2000.
Door at 3000 is expensive, mine is a 4m and was 1800 fitted.

Edit: do you need a beam / column above the door ?

5 years ago I was quoted £20k for a single garage, bare earth to finished structure.

Given the need to tie yours in with the existing garage and general inflation of materials and wages you'd probably be looking closer to £30k.

Of course my builder might have been taking the piss, but I don't think so.
