Bloody buttons!

Early morning need to move the motor and bloody buttons onthe steering wheel for the wipers don't work. Neither does the high beam etc. Didin't try the horn as it was 6am....

Is there a common fix for this?

I had this problem - it occurred when the car had sat out overnight. Fault was originally diagnosed as a faulty circuit board but once the car had 'dried out' and warmed up the buttons all started working correctly!

Doesn't give you definite fix I'm afraid but at least you may not have a serious problem

Try moving the steering wheel while pressing the buttons. The usual cause is a broken ribbon cable in the steering wheel hub. Takes about 10mins to chance but costs £40 from TVR. When mine next goes am going to go to Maplins and see if that have an alternative.

Could be humidity, there was certainly enough of that this morning. If the occurrences of failure get more and more frequent, then I'd suspect the ribbon cable, which will need to be replaced.

Someone was going to do some backlit buttons on the steering wheel, I wonder how that project went?

I know you say you didnt try the horn as it was early, but occasionally my full beam button doesnt work and I find a quick toot of the horn sorts the problem out.

If the connectors on the cable are being affected by condensation then they need sealing.
A small blob of silicone sealant will do. You could always chuck a packet of silica gel in there, if it’s at the steering wheel end that is. (Tape it down unless you want that maraca sound upon turning)

I would try the ribbon cable too.
