Always loved these bikes since i was a kid, so when one came up on FB about 3 miles from my house i had to go and have a look. Bit of patina here and there but a very honest and genuine example with all the right parts and plenty of history. Period correct muzzy system with rejetted carbs (flat slides) and printout for a healthy 122hp.

Cleaned out the carbs so far and i'll probably tidy up a few brackets here and there but it doesnt need much. 17k miles, so very usable without worrying about mileage.

That is a real blast from the past! I had one of these (and also the M1 Model which had the single side intake and replaced the blue for red) back in the mid 1990s. I absolutely loved them and over the course of a few years in the 1990s I had 7 ZXR750s. They were superb to ride and the homologation models were just so much sharper. I had the chance to race on a couple of years ago at the Manx GP and it didn't disappoint then. Enjoy, they are superb and that one looks absolutely perfect, especially with the Muzzy can!

It was the vacuum cleaner pipes that i loved about these... they made it look more race bike.

Stunning.

I don't know if a K1 explainer would be helpful to save people having to look it up for themsevles?

Not a K, but this one belonging to a mate languished in my garage for around 10 years.

It’s now undergoing a bit of a restoration. ZXR900 engine and fuel injection.

Limited run of 500 units, though more like a thousand with the identical K2 running after it. Built for world superbike series, winning various other superbike titles including BSB in 92 i think.

Raced against the Yamaha OW01, RC30 and GSXR-RR and ducati 888, though they were built from the ground up as race bikes, kawasaki took a road bike, gave it a close ratio gearbox, slipper clutch, aluminium tank, flat slide carbs and a single seat and made it half the price. Though they did offer a race kit on top.

Muzzy system is the exhaust to have as muzzy were the race team behind Scott Russell, who was pretty dominant on the ZXR at the time.

I don't have many regrets but passing up on a genuine, full Muzzy spec RR ZXR 750 is up there...
As Capt. Mainwaring would say.... Stupid boy Pike!

Wow! She looks an absolute beaut. I am slowly getting an L1 on the road but absolutely adore the K1 and M1/2 versions, such as good looking bike.

The above is a great restoration video of a K1, nicely edited and short too. I believe the eventual buyer was this fella:

If you find yourself in search of parts then I am having great search results via German, French and Czech versions of Gumtree and the like.

I stood at Redgate at Donington when the World Superbikes came to town and the speed Scott Russell arrived at was outrageous especially compared to then BSB riders.

Lovely example and rare as you don't see that many of them compared to other homologation specials

My L3...

and the M1

A lad came up to me in the garage asking if it was a new bike, I said it was 30 years old, he couldn't believe it, he said he never knew it existed and it was the best looking bike he'd ever seen, commenting that the colour scheme was amazing and bikes today usually look so boring. There was certainly something very special about all those 90's homologation specials and their siblings. I love them.

I use the L3 for commuting in the summer, the M1 occasionally but it is one of those bikes that I always come home shaking my head in disbelief and awe because of the way it makes you feel. Every ride feels very special on it. The L3 is also a great bike, feels similar yet also very different from the M1 to ride but I love it just the same.

Ooh, look at that! I absolutely love the zxr, its has one of the best feeling front ends of any bike I've had, mine had WP suspension and was sublime on track.
Fantastic find that one, make sure you use it!
Obligatory pic of my lowly J1 at cadwell.

I've had a couple of J1's. The first one got written off when a car did a U turn in front of me and I hit it side on. Bought a second one (below) soon after, but always really wanted the K model, as I just love how these look with the single seat unit - especially the euro spec colour in green and red. Of all the 90's superbikes, I think these always looked the best - very jealous!
