The runs over the crowd are just not sensible though!!

Appears to be in USA, which is surprising, as that sort of low flying is normally a no-no in the USA.....so guessing this wasn't an official airshow of sorts, probably more of a fly-in type event at a private strip perhaps??

No reason why it can't be real, just not recent.

There was a very low pass by a Spitfire at the first Goodwood Revival in 1998

I went to many Goodwood Revivals and one of the highlights of the earlier ones was the warbirds flying just overhead of spectators on the bankings.

Flying over the crowd was once commonplace in air displays - a lot of fast jet display teams used to begin their display by flying in from behind the spectators on the crowdline to give a "surprise" effect smile

Still happens at the Blackpool airshow the Reds usually come in over the Tower from behind the crowd line to start their display.

yes

All it takes is a small distraction or a minor mechanical failure and the ~20ft leeway that pilot's given himself has disappeared, as have the lives of a few dozen spectators.

I'm not a supporter of the draconian rules we now have around UK airshows, but there's such a thing as common sense...and that Corsair pilot appeared to misplace his.

I was fortunate enough to be going to airshows when over crowd flying was permitted to a degree.

I often recall a time at Mildenhall in the 80's when a Bucc had displayed, gone off somewhere and an F111 was taking off. we were at the western end of the place on top of a vans roof in the car park enjoying the sun and getting food and drink.

As we watched the 111 go off into the holding pattern area, we wondered why it did so, just as the Bucc flew overhead over us at very low level and a few hundred bloody feet,

It was dangerous, we all pretty much fell off the sodding roof!

I was at a few at Leuchars in the 80s and flying low over the crowd having approached from behind was a popular thing!
It always seemed to take everybody by surprise smile
