Hello - what’s this white stuff on my gas fire? Do l need new coals? It‘s a bit greasy and comes back if l scrape it off the back

Many thanks for your comprehensive reply - it was serviced last week with no issues . We do have a monitor- don’t have fresheners etc. I am going to go with new coals for now. Once again thank you.

It’ll brush off quite easily with a soft brush, vacuum nozzle while you brush it off to catch the dust. Coal rejuvenating spray from a plumbers merchants or Amazon will bring the back panel & coals back to black.

The same poster had replied comprehensively on another thread and it was just AI and pretty bad advice at that. That one and the reply on this thread disappeared shortly afterwards.

oh isn't AI such a joy ....I didn't clock that it was inserting it's lowest-common-denominator-scrape-of-possible-answers into the thread
