The official Autumn/Winter 26/27 named storm and snow thread

Bugger!
The UK experienced 117 consecutive days this summer with the temperature being 20C+ somewhere in the UK.
And today, 7th October is the day that streak came to an end and it is combined with the opening of the winter thread
I hope we get many more summers like the summer of 2026 but this one will live in the memory

I feel sorry for the folk who are yet to be born and will be teenagers in 2076 - They will have to listen to old geezers rambling on about the summer of 2026, just like the young folk of today have had to listen to old geezers going on about the summer of 1976 The UK experienced 117 consecutive days this summer with the temperature being 20C+ somewhere in the UK.

Best thread of the year!
Lovely chill on the air tonight (Beeston, 5 miles outside Nottingham). Just been for a 5 mile walk, beef stew done in the slow cooker for dinner, log burner will be lit later and I may have a couple of drinks to celebrate the cold weather later.
Heat lovers have had an epic summer, now it's time for long dark nights and bitterly cold winter hikes for me.
Good times.
