I have Amarok 2ltr wet belt diesel, same engine as Ford Ranger.

This far has been reliable and hopefully continues to be.

Initially i was told by my garage 66000 miles to change the belt, asked again yesterday as we are over the 50,000 now to be told its 125,000 miles.

They are saying as i am keeping up the service schedule with them, and it has 125000 mile warranty, if it breaks in that time its covered by warranty as they're using correct oils etc.

This would be in contrast to stories i have heard re mileage to change it elsewhere. Anyone shed any light on it?

Will they put that in writing?

its not just about being covered under a warranty, what happens when the belt goes at the most inconvenient time possible and leaves you stranded at the side of the M6?

They are a known weak point so just get it done in the near future at a time that suits rather than being let down and requiring a full engine rebuild at great expense.

A company called "Car edition" have done some podcasts on these, so well worth having a look.
