I m struggling at the moment to get anybody to advise me on CGT, I ve tried all the online type contact stuff without success. It seems CGT is an area a lot of accountants doesn t really want to get involved in.
My situation is I ve recently inherited my marital home back due to survivorship rules my ex and I were joint tenants and I m planning to sell as I have another house which is my main residence.

I ve tried to wade through the CGT tax implications but can now understand (well a bit anyway) how Angela Rayner fell foul of this. (although thinking back wasn't her issue stamp duty?

I suspect you need a competent property/tax/probate solicitor on this one, not an accountant.

My wife was an Accountant and she’d also suggest a tax expert.

She suggests you note when it ceased to be your main residence and perhaps a value then(assuming it was once your home too). It’ll have a probate value and someone who understands it will advise what you can reasonably deduct as costs of disposal.

This is just for your half, none on the inherited half.
