What happens if you die on Thursday, but you have limit sells set on your account and the stock market has a few days of the mental a week later, and you make an extra cash sale of £400k?

Does your trader go back to the exact time and date that you died and work out your balance at that point for the executers of your estate?

Do traders have a t&c clause saying that any posthumous trades are null and void?

Do they get to keep your sale money?

What if the exact time and date of death can't be confirmed?

Do they just guess?

Maybe it just carries on trading until your executors contact the investment company?

I would have thought the trade would occur. It was an instruction made by you before you died. Its a bit like your bills being paid by direct debit. It doesn't stop just because you died, the executors need to do it.

Whatever happened I don't see how the trading company could keep any of your money. If the shares were bought with your estates cash, they become your estates assets.
