Any recommendations at all please?

I have found one called MTB transport Limited but was wondering if someone has a recommendation rather than me simply going off a google search

Thanks

Moving Motorcycles. They delivered a bike that my brother bought at auction this week. As he’s away i had to go meet the fella and sort it out, which was literally the easiest and smoothest thing imaginable.

It was really quite cheap too, we looked at hiring a van but couldn't have done it with the diesel for what they charged.

If it's a local job, you will get a much better deal finding someone local to do it.

Hiring a trailer can work.

A local indy bike shop/bike MOT place will probably know a man who does this kind of thing.

Out of interest what sort of £ is it to move bikes? We might need to move a few bikes about 300 miles, and backwards and forwards with a 2 bike trailer will be a pain (and mean finding somewhere to house them at one end of the other temporarily).

I'd recommend Chas Mortimer.

Did a fine job for me moving a bike from Italy to UK, couldn't fault in any way.

For the poster going back and forth 300miles, I'd reccomend a disabled converted van with tail lift. Old ones are very cheap and have high internal ceiling so can fit a bike easily, maybe 2 if you found the right one. There's also plenty of quality tie down points inside.

Surely it depends where the OP is based and area they want the bike moved?

Plenty bike movers but they won’t be competitive if they have to do big mileage before doing the job.

Funnily enough had the exact opposite experience 10 years ago.

Paid him to transport my RC8 back from Italy to UK. Bike wasn't secured properly in the back of van and was dropped. Snapping off the mirror and scratching fairings.

Intially nice about it and promised to pay cost of replacement once i got quote from dealer. Did so and then he stopped replying to all contact. Would not recommend

I think this company is also a "Phoenix Job" . Chas Mortimer Ltd went bust in 2023.

I also had an issue with them just before they went under. Managed to lose a very expensive key & wern't too interested in contributing to the costs incurred.

OP: where are you based & where do you want to move a bike to & from?

We've got a 2 bike trailer, but with 5 bikes and a 6-7 hour drive each way, it's going to take a while to schlep them backwards and forwards, and find someone who can store them for a few days while we do it redface

Thanks all. It was Aberdeen to London. The bike was no bargain so I will stick to something more local where I am happy to ride back from. Prices were north of £350 which I guess is the new normal

About an 1100 mile round trip, not even sure how you could do that for £350 (considering fuel, vehicle running costs, overnight accomodation, wages etc etc). It would have to be a bulk transporter shifting multiple bikes to get near it.
