Looking for advice or at least vent over Lex.

Have existing lease company ev with Lex. Lease was up end of September just gone so ordered replacement car in April (Polestar 4 - all options ticked) all confirmed. All agreed and Lex pulled the delivery date forward in my request to end of August.

During ‘buying’ phase from Lex, lots of immediate responses from them, once ordered at least a week for a response. In early August I was sent a message direct from polestar, welcome to family etc, here’s a link to begin to prepare for your car.

No correspondence in August from Lex on expected delivery, so called into polestar Sheffield and they gave me bad news that they could see the car but it wouldn’t arrive until end of September at earliest. The one silver lining is they confirm I will get a my27 car rather than a my26. I contact Lex to find out what’s happening but bet just a stock ‘supplier issues’ response.

I escalate to Lex two weeks ago, what’s the revised situation and on Friday late afternoon I get a response along the following lines -

‘We’re sorry but due to the my26 to my27 change in polestar, they won’t fulfil your car so the order has been cancelled and you will have to start again’.

Lex are directly quoting/throwing polestar under a bus, I know car companies can be mercurial, but their delivery/SAP systems are generally robust, so my polestar conversation seems to contradict the Lex comments.

So I’m left with my current car which has gone over the 4yr term, still paying the same monies and having to go through the whole process again, where the monthly costs now are likely to be vastly higher than when I ordered and I’ll likely have to wait another 6 months for a car.

I like cars and I was really looking forward to something new, so this has massively p’eed me off, childish I know, but life is complex enough so why not. And I know at the end of day they will likely do nothing, so my only satisfaction may be a snotty/peevish email to who ever I can find high enough up.

Anyone gone through similar pain from Lex and managed to get any positive outcomes?

All I can add to the Polestar experience is that back in 2022 I ordered a Polestar 2 direct from Polestar via their website, paid a deposit by card and was allocated a car from stock to the spec I’d chosen. Lease documents were e-signed, but delivery of a supposedly stock car was inordinately delayed. It transpired that the vehicle with the VIN assigned to me and on all the paperwork had actually been sold to someone else. Apparently…. At which point a car to my spec was a factory order, so I abandoned the purchase. Based on my experience I wouldn’t be entire confident in Polestars stock management systems…

I've been having issues with Lex too.

I currently have a Polestar 2 which was ordered with them in September 2022 with expected delivery of February 2023. Not terrible for a factory order during a parts shortages. It wasn't actually built until the February, arrived to the UK about 6 weeks later but then took a further 3 months until it was delivered to me. I figured this was a one off due to the situation at the time so wasn't hugely concerned.

That lease was up in July so I ordered a BYD Seal to replace it in February. At the time the lead time was only a couple of months so should have been plenty time for a smooth switch over but July came and went with no news at all. Since then the date has been pushed back a couple of weeks at a time with the only real update that there was "transit damage" when I contacted the supplying dealer directly at the end of August. My current lease has been extended at the full (higher) price while this has been going on as well as having to pay the full year increase in VED up front (+VAT!) which hasn't been ideal.

I escalated with Lex last week and they have given me the option of a stock car with slightly different spec, reordering from another supplier which would be a couple of weeks or cancellation at no charge. I've chosen the stock car on Friday so hopefully will have some confirmation tomorrow that it has gone through. Massively frustrating and seemingly an easy problem to solve considering I could buy the exact same car privately with a couple of weeks lead time.

I'm not sure what is going on with Lex but given my work is changing supplier in January, the issues are clearly not just at the end user level
