Does anyone else crave curry?

I'm OK if I don't have a curry for a few weeks, but once I have one, I want it again the next day.

Sri Lanka was great as the hotel served curry for breakfast.

Is it just me and what spice is in curry that I find addictive?

Salt has addictive properties and most takeaway curries contain a tonne of the stuff.

Love a curry, but I'll only ever eat a half sized takeaway portion at a time now or I'll feel rough afterwards.

I had quite a few curries for breakfast earlier this year whilst in Sri Lanka for six weeks. Stayed in two great hotels and they both offered a range of curries.
Not sure if I found them addictive but I certainly had about 4 or 5 a week whilst there.
One guy who I noticed for about a week or so would order a large bowl of pan fried green chillies for breakfast with a few chapatis and a mound of fried onions. Too fierce for my liking.

Defo addictive, I get withdrawal symptoms after a week or so of not having a curry. As for breakfast, kedgeree is a fabulous start to the day.

I eat curry a lot, love it for breakfast. Currently in Tokyo and the hotel does a curry base and rice every morning with a different meat and veggies each day to add. Off to Goa in a couple of weeks time too so plenty there. I think I started the curry thread here hehe Just checked it was UTH but I was in from the first few replies with my Vindaloo recipe

Curry addict here. Love a greasy takeaway, but equally like the good stuff, and enjoy making my own. Could quite easily eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, every day

I'm from Sri Lanka - great to hear that people have had enjoyable culinary experiences there - the food really is fantastic and so different from Indian, Thai, Malaysian etc. I've lived in the UK for all of my 56 years but still crave curry regularly - the thing is, it is so damn easy to make and keeps well in the fridge -in fact, it tastes better after a day or so after all the flavours infuse.

Always have a good curry powder and block of coconut cream in the cupboard as well as garlic, chilly, ginger and onion in the fridge - thereafter absolutely anything, and i mean anything, can be curried !

There is some research to back up the fact that spicy foods release adrenalin and endorphins, and we subconsciously seek the hit that that gives us, rather than spicy food being addictive in the medical sense.

Egg curry for breakfast on the state railways, hot as f**k, and definitely addictive.

Found the chai and pan more moreish though, probably due to the khat and poppy they use as ingredients..

Isn't there something about spice and releasing endorphins or something being mildly addictive?
