Trip to Burgundy

Start looking at booking the ferry now. Dover Calais is usually the cheap one. Make sure you have all the kit. Fire Ex. First aid. Reflective triangle, Spare fuel can, but make sure it is empty on the boat. My advice is also take a reflective coat and also carry a couple of hundred euros for the police. They have on the spot fines and impound if you can't pay up.

Have a great trip. I try to go to Burgundy at least once a year in my TVR, here's my observations...
Personally I favour the tunnel for crossings and they are doing some fairly good deals at the moment, but the ferries normally come out a bit less even so.
If you are going to press on and make it down in a day to the region you'll be on the fast but boring autoroutes, remember to take some cash for the tolls.
In Burgundy, you'll be wanting to pick up some of the local produce I assume. Don't assume that you can just roll up to the door of your chosen producer and say can we taste / buy some of your wine? It's a good idea to make appointments in advance, you can do this in this country if you like or get some help from the Tourist Offices when you are over there (not sure if they are open though over Xmas). There are a few shops as well, Phillipe LeClerc in Gevrey Chambertin and Domaine Bretanga in Vougeot come to mind.
In the Cotes de Nuits, to see would be Chateau de Vougeot, easy to find and very attractive. Vougeot is easy enough to park in and wonder around. Gevery Chambertin is my favourite village in the north, easy to park and lots to walk around and see / drink / eat, but they may be shutting down for Xmas so it could be a bit dead I suppose. Nuit St Georges is a bit more town like and hard to park in, but if has a few shops notably Cavon Bachaus - wonderul.
In the Cotes de Beaune, Beaune town itself is very worth a trip. Parking is okay. Check out the hospice get a few guided / sampling tours in and there will certainly be places open for lunch even at that time of the year.
Main problem may be the time of year, try to work out a plan before you go and make sure places are open otherwise you could be very disappointed.
