I recently had a puncture repaired on a front wheel and both tyres replaced on the rear.

It drives just fine, but I've noticed today a surprising number of wheel weights opposite the stem on one of the rear wheels and about 90degrees out from the stem on the front wheel. Full strips of 5g weights, 50g on each, these are 19" wheels.

I can't find a coloured dot to confirm, but I suspect they've stuck the tyres on without reference to the original factory balance points. I couldn't say for certain how much weight was there before but I am certain it wasn't that much. One or two 5g weights, tops.

What do you think?

Some tyres are worse than others but it's also very likely they haven't bothered to mount them in the right place.

Most places seem to use steel weights rather than lead ones these days too so that makes it look even worse.

I thought lead wheel weights were very much a thing of the past.

Very few places actually seem to align the tyre before mounting.

It could be that the wheel is slightly buckled, which can be hard to spot even on a balancing machine.
