Been given a frame for the garden and one of the posts is rotten. Initially thought it was a 3x3 or 4x4 but it seems to be an in between size-85x85mm.

Is it a custom timber or something else? Trying to source a replacement

Planed timber is always smaller than its quoted size, so something called 90mm could very well be 85mm. You'll just have to take your tape measure to the shop.

If you see 'PAR' it means 'planed all round'.

You can get 85 by 85 par like that, look at decking timber.

Understood so I'm looking for

90x90 (actual size will be 85x85)
PAR - planned all around
4RC - 4 rounded corners
Treatment - UC4 on ground

Cheers all, any good timber merchants which deliver? Round where I live it's only the big chains not many merchants

For one post, then unless your buying a length you can’t get in a car, surely it’s just easier and cheaper to go and get it from the nearest Wickes or similar - delivery cost would probably triple the price!

It is an odd size as many fence posts are rough timber so still 100x100 or 75x75. This is obviously dressed, but you usually only lose 5mm, so you get 95x95 or 70x70. It could be a decking post?

Going to a store also means you can rummage through the entire display to find a length that doesn't look like a banana.
