I’d suggest that some of your list items are more baffling than mystery, others are just made up ‘mysteries’ or rather stories.

I’m all for a good story but conflating real things with made up things is why we have too many conspiracy theorists.

I've watched every single episode of Oak Island.

In each one, as a new 'disovery' is unearthed, the voice over chap poses several questions.

The questions are usually along the lines of 'Does this piece of burnt timber, found in shaft 123.4.2 mean that Rick, Marty, their business partner, Craig Tester, along with the other members of the team are closer to finding the lost treasure?'

About a decade ago I began shouting at the TV in reply 'NO!!!!!' I've not yet been proved wrong.

I still have to watch it, though.

I really think that they are are on to something.
I was watching a programme about Captain Kidd... they think that he hid SOME of his loot on Oak Island.
Pirates never buried all of it in one place... in case it was found.
But I doubt he buried it that deep... or made those traps)
(I prefer this line of equiry to to the Ark of the Covenant stuff.)

NB: Josh Gates does some good unsolved / expedition programmes too... but seems to find so much 'good stuff'.
(But leaves some meat on the bone for later).

Aren't all mysteries unsolved? Otherwise they'd just be facts.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good mystery... real or not.

NB: I predict to that they will still be looking for Amelia's plane in ten years time.
(Along with MH370 & those five Avengers in the Bermuda Triangle).

NB: Don't look for them... & you will find them.
(Like finding pieces of Space Shuttle on the sea bed).

I love the British metal detector bloke.

“A button!”

Voiceover bloke spouts some random “fact” about buttons that has a very tenuous link to pirates.

Although, as you say, we keep watching.

I used to love oak island, I stopped watching it a few years ago though, I figure if they find something it'll make the news and I'll catch up that way

Afternoon folks, agree Milky, a good mystery intrigue's me also.

Ok these are ultimately murders, but probably never solved. And very mysterious.

1. 2012 Alps shooting (family out on a drive) all but wiped out.

2. Alistair Wilson - Nairn.

3. Spy in the suitcase - Gareth Williams.

Not a murder, however a disappearance Lars Mitannk Varna.

And two of the most baffling, Peter Bergman Sligo. And, Jenifer Firgate Oslo.

Ok, I guess you can apply Ocamms Razor to all of the above - but all very odd.

That one is all but solved; it was the pub landlord or someone paid by him.

I wondered about the secret bunker too.

Plus do gypsies really tie dogs to fences just to lure people in and does cadence clutching actually work?

Ahh the classic thread that lured me to Pistonheads for the very first time all those years ago!

What would Dave do?
