Would you buy an old C class (2015-2018) as a cruiser?
Discussion
Drove a 07 Micra for 2 years in town and it served me well for errands. Unfortunately in the near feature I plan to do more motorway journeys and the Micra doesn't feel stable at 70.
Ideally, I don't want to spend more than 10k on a car and for a similar amount I can purchase a 2015 C class with the 7G tronic at 80,000-90,000 miles.
Is the C class a good car to own for 5-7 years and put another 50k miles on it without major issues.
The E class is too long for me and the few times I will do city driving it will be harder to park and do 3 point turns.
Would you say the alternatives - 3 series, A4 can perform better for the same price range? I understand the Lexus IS will be cheaper to maintain and probably more fuel efficient due to the hybrid, yet I have the feeling it will not be on par when cornering on the few occasions I take it to a curvy road.
Also, would you say the C class will be more durable than the equivalent SUV (the GLC) I expect sedans to have less wear due to being lighter but what's your opinion on that?

Yes. I'd avoid anything with the panoramic sunroof. If the drains get blocked, sorting them out seems to involve dismantling half the car.
As usual, avoid the sport suspension and larger wheels. Ride can be too firm for cratered UK roads.
Economy can be pretty good with the 2litre petrol turbo, around 40 mpg on a run.
IMO these cars with the torque converter auto are a nicer drive than Mercs with the DCT transmission.
Be wary of electrical problems, my C43 MY17 was an absolute pig with respect to an ongoing issue resulting from an emergency jump start (they hate being jumped).
The CANbus is massively complicated and understanding what's happening is sometimes MB dealer only knowledge, even specialists were stumped.
Thats my only advice.

So would you recommend the other cars mentioned in the post the A4 or 3 seriesThe CANbus is massively complicated and understanding what's happening is sometimes MB dealer only knowledge, even specialists were stumped.

If that's what you want ....grand, but would an A class be an option if you want to go Merc?
