Lifts or stairs?
Discussion
I always walk, I don't know what the split between the two is. I suspect it depends on the building and it's users.
I can't remember the last time I went above ten floors, if I had to probably would still walk.
I am always surprised when I see mobile people taking a lift for one floor.

Stairs whenever I can locate them. I hate places where the stairs are impossible to find or they're behind alarmed fire doors and inaccessible. It's the only exercise I get these days! I often get to my floor quicker than people taking the lift too.
Daughter is worse, she positively hates lifts and avoids them like the plague. She's the youngest of three, and our middle one was stuck in a lift for 40-45 minutes when we were on holiday once. Even though it wasn't her who was stuck, she's the one who's developed a bit of a fear about them.

Stairs unless it's a huge number of floors or the staircase is one of those horrible concrete, cold, damp things that look like they should only be used in an emergency.
What REALLY annoyed me was on a recent cruise when we all end up getting back on the ship at the same time, hoards of healthy young people fighting for the lift when we were there with 2 small children in a double buggy trying to get to one of the upper floors. Some of them only going up one or two floors. I actually kicked a couple of teenagers out of the lift at one point
People are just completely f
king lazy, no wonder roughly 2/3 of the UK are overweight or worse.

Nice bit of exercise (excellent for cardio fitness) so what's not to like? The building I work in has 10 flights of stairs (I work on the first floor). I sometimes climb all 10 flights as I find it a good way to de-stress... my 'record' is 1 min 22 seconds which is not bad for a 51 year old bloke IMO.
Get some odd looks from other people, mind.

Bring back paternosters
Stuttgart Town Hall, not to far from me, still has one. Its a bit a of tourist attraction.
Health and Safety was mentioned above but, given they’re still in operation, there are obviously ways and means around it. Thousands of hungover students have managed to not kill themselves.
Anyway, stairs usually for me.
What annoys me is at airports where they have the moving walkways and instead of using them to double their speed people stand still on them and block all the other users.
