Budget up to £2k, would ideally like a recliner with built in tray, I live alone and tend to eat in front of the TV. Are the likes of DFS to be avoided?

Can't comment on DFS, but if you sit in the same place every time watch out for subsidence - so choose a sofa where you can turn the cushions.

I had a Natuzzi Editions one from Glasswells and it turned out to be junk. It's very cheaply made - chipboard and rubber bands underneath - I've had the suspension improved three times and finally had to get the thing dismantled to get the cushions re-stuffed.

You'll also find that modern sofas tend to be very low - not very suitable for using as a dining platform.
