2010 Mercedes E63 6.2
Discussion
Owned for 10 years. Bought for £23K on 70,000 miles and now on 94,000 miles.
It's been a journey of no little awe and no little expense. Checked over the bills today and I'm at £6K approx....not including fuel obviously!

Dodged a big bullet recently. Creaking/groaning from the rear which I lazily assumed was suspension but turned out to be the the diff. Oil drain and re-fill has turned this car from a grumpy old sod back into the big silky brute it should be. Hope I haven't f
ked it but the garage told me the remaining oil was pretty clean. Hope so. We're off to Italy next week via the 'bahn and hoping it goes better than last time when the alternator belt went at 110 mph. That was a wrestle to a nearby rest-stop! Mrs BG went from white to red in the face. Brownie points bank emptied.
Alloys repainted this week. From gun-metal back to Merc Silver. Much better but maybe too bright?
Anyway...Love it and can't think of anything to replace it with. It's truly Special....

Brills, these are up there as an ultimate bahn-stormer for cross European touring. £6k over that mileage is probably about right, could easily spend that on a German suv without that level of performance in the same time / mileage, I’d just enjoy it for knowing it’s been looked after. Have a great trip
Thanks Fellas. Hoping to improve on my 18 mpg average but not going to look toooo closely

There's no doubt these cars run better after a proper leg-stretch. Ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden next weekend then 4 days to get down to Lake Como. Back in January so here's hoping the Italian nutters don't ruin our plans over the next few months. The most dangerous are the newly-passed young girls in the Fiat 500's that Papa has bought them. Phone Zombies!

I've an SL55 with M113K and this engine followed it. I wonder how many 212s got your engine? Not many it would seem. Yours looks mint.
Jealous of your road trip. I've been to Lake Como ahd hired a Golf in Milan to drive up to it. Stunning scenery around the lake but the roads are twisty, built up and narrow. I didn't manage to get up to it but Stelvio it up the north end of it. Will you get up to it? Your car will be epic.

It does seem a bit of a rarity these days. The Bi-Turbo 5.5 that followed it is much more widely available. Incredible car also. My car shows signs of both use and a lot of love. Ultimately, it was my retirement present to myself. We went looking for a new car back then for Mrs BG with a view to trading in her Mini Cooper for a used 3-series coupe. BMW garage didn't have much I was enthused about so while she was looking around I wandered over to the adjacent Merc dealer and spotted this E63 being brought out to their used lot. End of the month for the Sales-Team so they were super-keen on a deal and offered £2K more on the Mini than BMW across the road. I got 'The Look' Jealous of your road trip. She got an Evoque...which She loved. Yes been to the Stelvio Pass and in all honesty it was feckin' hard work without much respite from the arm-twirling. Awesome views..but there are better passes where you can get a good flowing clip on. San Marco, San Bernadino etc. are fantastic. Probably all shut now with Winter closing in.
I'll try to get a shot of the speedo on the A3 as hit hits the limiter. Other passenger limitations may apply...
