I've got a gap between the rad tail and the pipe, and the pipe won't flex far enough.

I can't for the life of me find what i need to extend the tail (without telescopic ones) to fill it.
I think the part that screws into the rad is 15mm, the nut is 3/4" - there is very little extending out with the ones i was supplied, and just need about 10mm more either side,

I stupidly threw away the old tails with the old rad!

Why can’t you use a telescopic rad tail? They’re great for solving little problems like this if you want to avoid moving pipes, taking up floors etc. I used them on a bathroom radiator and never had any leaks

I bought some different sizes of these when I was changing out 10 rads in an older house where none of the new rads were fitting easy .
Perfect solution in my case.

You'd need one of those big allen keys to tighten ...I forget the size ( big )

its a 1/2 inch .... B&Q https://www.diy.com/departments/radiator-valve-all...

I started with a couple of telescopic. NEVER again

But I accept they are not to everyone's taste.
