Hi all. I've bought a second car (Tesla EV) and I'd like to put my wife on the policy. She has her own car, but will likely use mine a bit more now as she only has an auto licence. I typically put her as a named driver on my manual sports cars as it helps with the premium.

On my last car purchase I put her on the policy but didn't declare she had claims in the last 5 years. This got flagged somehow and I got in a massive mess finding my NCB across two vehicles, which I had but struggled to find. I then had a pay a massive premium increase because of her claims only to then pay again to remove her to reduce the premium again.

I eventually spoke to some helpful guy in the the investigations department who was able to detail all her claims with dates, prices, liability etc. I needed that so I could declare her properly before removing her.

I would like to put her on as a named driver on my car but I don't remember all the claim details. She won't remember either as 'I do all the insurance stuff' for her.

Is there any way I can find all her details so I don't risk an investigation again? I don't now how other than trawling through emails and phoning companies.

Ring the insurer that gave you the details last time as it will all be on your file.

Submit a subject access request from the CUE database.

This will show the claims history that insurers can see.

I’m surprised that you didn’t ask for or were not sent a detailed breakdown of the then corrected claims information but as suggested just call them up and ask for it.
I’m assuming there was more than just one claim to recall ?!

Do you declare her as a provisional licence holder on your manual cars, which is in effect what she is.

Don't be so hard on him! He's trying to do the right thing now as he was caught last time.
