Just a random question. I have a bright yellow (Called Sicilian yellow) Mclaren 570.
It's going in for a full 2 stage detail and ceramic coat shortly and the detailers, who are Xpel PPF accredited installers as well, have actually recommended I do not have a track pack PPF applied to my car (useage is just fast road) as on corner joints, mirror edges etc it can attract dirt and be visible against the paint colour - the main PPF will be wrapped around the panel edges where possible.

Does this sound right to you? I think I'd rather risk some small edges with dirt than the damage stone chips can do but then I am no expert. These guys go a LOT of very high end cars so I trust what they can do, but I guess I'm just perhaps a little disappointed it's not meant for my car?

I was fairly anti-ppf a few years back, thinking it was never going to be as good as just 'paint'.

However, I got some nasty chips on the bonnet and a short time after that McLaren agreed to fully repaint my car (due to fading on volcano orange).

I reluctantly decided to get PPF to protect my new free paint, but I wasn't convinced it was the best idea.

As it turned out, it was brilliant. I had one or two edges but not many at all and it protected the paint completely.

I have a 2018 napier green 570s with front end PPF, which was installed many years ago.

It doesn't bend round the corners and it's hardly visible.

Like Dave, I was a bit of a PPF/ceramic coating sceptic, but considering my cleaning regime has been reduced to cleaning only the places where dirt appears (as opposed the whole car) in the 4 months I've had it, I'd recommend them both.

Hi,
I own a PPF company and we also work on a lot of high end vehicles too including plenty of McLarens.
Whilst what they have said is technically correct in that mid panel film edges can end up looking grubby overtime on light colours, the 570 has a two part rear quarters so a "track pack" should work perfectly as long as they extend the kit to the full of the lower quarter panel.
Please feel free to drop me a DM if you would like to discuss it in more detail.

Mine is of that nature, its templated, so has a very minor, and only now after 4-5 years some edges that have attracted dirt for want of a better phrase; no one thus far has commented on it... but I do know it exists in some minor places.
Does it bother me, no not really... and a little 50/50 ipa and distilled water does clean it up almost..
My PPF is Llumar self healing.

Thank you all.
Think I'll opt to spend the extra on the ppf.
Though it is refreshing to hear a business talking themselves out of work wink
