As above, there are 3 of us and one of us is 60 next year and we wanted to do something interesting for his birthday. This means UK or, more likely Europe, for a short break/piss up. Somewhere with good bars and music etc but not too young a crowd and not too ££. Happy to look at places where there's some interesting stuff/unusual stuff to do too.

Any suggestions? (Not Benidorm - we've been there!)

If you haven't been Croatia is great and a really nice place to be if you like the water / coastline.

Prague and Budapest are good cities to visit.

Try Venice.

They start drinking at breakfast there. Much more civilised for those of a certain age.

Belfast

Lots to do in Belfast through day, tours, titanic etc
Has the feeling of going away but still same money & NHS for you old duffers - you won’t need insurance

(Inverness also a good shout as friendly place with older crowd & music)

Belgrade. Lots of lively pubs, bars and breweries, folks of all ages about, not just youths, some interesting and different museums to visit by day which might appeal to your age demographic, communist history and the like.

Not your typical Brits on the piss stag type city at all but great fun, very welcoming and really affordable. Cheap flights on Wizzair from Luton - well, cheap outside of school holiday dates, as with pretty much everywhere of course. Easy to find large AirBnB apartments right in the city for not much money.

Prague, Berlin, Budapest all great.

Not been, but I want to go to Bruges. It's like a fairytale I hear.

Logrono in Spain,

Not the easiest place to get to from the UK, but once you're there it will tick all of your boxes. It's not expensive and it's where the Spanish go to party. Yes, there will be a fair few stag / hen parties out and about, but they'll all be Spanish and relatively well behaved. There will also be other groups celebrating milestone birthdays.

Bruges would be great for your 80th piss up.

Berlin is very good, because there's a lot of cool historical stuff around the second world/cold war to keep blokes interested and engaged, and then its got plenty of cracking places to eat and drink. It's also surprisingly cheap.

Munich also great but less cheap.

If your interests are a bit more cultural then Madrid offers a full night out, also at reasonable cost.

Prague/Budapest/Warsaw all good fun as well, the latter being a bit cooler.

Agreed Logrono is nice. I stayed at the municipal albergue for €10 when I was on Camino this year.

Combine it with a trackday. Logrono isn’t far from Navarra circuit and I happen to know there’s likely to be a two day event there next June……..

When we last went a couple years ago there was a festival of some kind on and it was a lively place to visit.

Estonia! Lovely, friendly people, beautiful women (I married one and we made 2!), Tallinn is very special with the old town but also great bars and restaurants/nightlife. However - rent a car (roads are easy - just don't speed) and visit the islands on the west coast, including the Island of women (not what you are thinking; get your minds out of the gutter) then down to the summer resort of Parnu and stay in one of the many health spas for a few nights.

Shoot guns on ranges, including machine guns, guided driving tours in old military vehicles (can't find an English version of the website at the moment), trek through forests and sleep in log cabins surrounded by bears....

Direct flights from the Sarf, of via Helsinki from the Norf - do a multi stop and visit Finland, too!

What's not to like? Happy Birthday
