Hello - I'm currently looking for a mooring between Wroxham (though not in it) and Acle. Stalham etc is too far north. Boat is a Shetland 27 - air draft varies depending on which source you read but I don't want to have to take the windscreen down. Wroxham bridge seems 50:50 so I had rule out a marina just west of the bridge. Ludham is OK but Potter Heigham a non-starter!
I think official moorings get filled up with hireboats quickly in the summer - what are my chances of finding wild moorings? I like somewhere quiet if possible.

We rented this Broadland Wave 2 from Richardsons at Stalham this Summer. Despite being 31ft long it is only a two berth and is ideal for a couple. It is no spring chicken, dating from 1990-ish, however it had everything we wanted, and the ability to slide the saloon roof back and drive the boat standing up was nice touch.

We were there before the school holidays, yet there were remarkably few moorings available. Most banks have a 'Private - No Mooring' sign, and a lot of the other places recommended in the guides (e.g. Acle) were full.
Places we managed to moor were:
I would strongly advise anyone renting a boat to take everything they think they would need for the duration of the trip, as mooring on a bank from which one could walk to a shop can be very difficult.
Oh, and be ready for the locals to invite themselves aboard...

Places we managed to moor were:
- On the River Ant at Irstead tied up to some felled trees.
- Stokesby (£10 to stop overnight by the Ferry Inn)
- Tied to trees on the River Bure, South of Wroxham Broad
- How Hill, by the Toad Hole Cottage Museum.
