I find it handy to have a set of jubilee clips on hand to when working on cars - often you find a single-use fitting you need to remove, or need to bodge something together, but you never know what size you need until you need it so buying on-spec isn't practical.

As an example, last night I needed to temporarily repair a leaking oil line:

I bought 100-piece set on eBay for £10 and unsurprisingly they are rubbish - they just strip if you try to tighten them up too much.

Normally I'd buy genuine Jubilee clips, but an equivalent 100-piece set is £200!, which is far more than I could justify for the utility of having them on the shelf.

Any recommendations for an assorted set (in stainless)?

I wouldnt specifically look at stainless as it bumps the price up significantly.
You can buy make your own sets which may suit you if your just a now and again user.

Personally, I wouldn't touch "jubilee clips" with a barge-pole.

I generally keep a stock of various sizes of these though.

My assumption was mild steel would corrode quickly. I guess OE ones are zinc plated or something?

I buy from HCL Clamping, they have been great and whilst maybe not the cheapest the quality has always been there.

They offer kits as well:

Then you could just top up as you use them.

I was thinking the same, the ASH ones are decent quality for the money. Mikalor for larger diameters but they aren’t cheap.

TBH, I also wouldn't use Mikalor now.

Original ones used to have a full-circle "T" that went in the end of the clip.

But now it is hollow & incomplete.

So, if you have to do them up tight, as you would on an exhaust, which is what they were originally designed for, they don't pull together correctly & can wreck the ends band, and then you can't do them up tight again, so rather pointless in a heavy duty multi-use scenario, which is equally exactly what they were designed for.

I rarely/never use this kind of clip, or its close relatives. I re-use the clips off from taking it apart, which are either constant-force ones, or plastic positive fitting connections you might find on a radiator on modern cars (with a wire clip to retain), or fuel lines etc
