Ok for someone that has considered a Mclaren in the past I dont understand what's going on with insurance.Doing a comparison qoute 5 months ago insurance could be had for around £800 for a 650s or 12c (Im 46 12 years no claims one non fault accident in May 25 and one sp30 ).Seems insurance qouted now cheapest (without a driving monitor just why would you) is around 2k the usual culprits come top Hastings, admiral etc.Just makes no sense as currently insure a noble m12 for under £200 fully comp and a v6 emira at £720 fc.Who do you guys insure with ?.has any of you noticed on renewal big hikes ?.
Thinking insurance tax and if one had a warranty one in my case would be looking at over 6k a year before fuelling a car.

Wow thats bloody good value Dave god knows why im.getting crazy prices I can't imagine the sp30 and non fault claim would make a huge difference.Might be worth me contacting insurers direct rather than online comparison qoutes
I had a (McLaren) total loss fault claim a week before renewal in 2023 - that made no difference to my premium (was ~£1100 then) - and over the last couple of years it's plummeted. So I'd be surprised if your non-fault claim made much difference.davek_964 said:

I'm with Admiral, early 50s, zero NCB, two claims in the last 5 years on another car policy, £700 PA on a 570s.
On another note, I was kindly invited to pull over by an unmarked Audi this morning, and the two gentlemen charged me £100 for not diplaying a front number plate.
Notified Admiral, they said it wouldn't be considered this year, but would at my renewal next June.

Why will it be considered? It's a fine not a points offence. On another note, I was kindly invited to pull over by an unmarked Audi this morning, and the two gentlemen charged me £100 for not diplaying a front number plate.

We have an Admiral policy and was looking to SORN our sports cars as they are not used in winter (especially with the salt on the roads in scotland).
Been told by Admiral that we have to keep the cars taxed as they do not cover SORN'd vehicles.
So wondering if anyone has found an annual policy that also allows periods of SORN i.e. annual policy with full cover when vehicle is taxed but fire + theft when vehicle is SORN

I think GoCompare allow you to select "Sorn" as one of their filters to compare SORN covering insurers.
Many (most?) non-budget insurers will allow you to swap the cover for a short time, or simply don't specify tax. AXA weren't bothered, hastings are also OK, but there are lots of others.
