Hi folks,

As my barn find didn't come with keys, I trawled the Internet for a bit, and it so came about that rather than sourcing a Vauxhall replacement, it seems like China has Chevrolet Matiz barrels available for $20-25 shipped from Aliexpress. There's a huge glut of them so I don't recommend any specific vendor, but I found whichever one was cheapest with shipping ($20 wasn't a difficult bet to try) and I'm happy to report that:

1) it fits perfectly
2) you gain two new terminals: the ACC terminal and the P terminal (former for, well, accessory and latter that goes live when key is pulled from the barrel, so for stuff like alarm / always-on DVR / stuff like that). You would need to run a new wire + spade to take advantage of them, as it would appear that the OEM harness does not have those pre-wired.

Just felt that this was simpler than sourcing the Vauxhall barrel and THEN fiddling with plastic pieces to add the key position, which I understood is the current way of doing it. Parts bin car FTW!

Search string is "Chevrolet Matiz barrel" or any variation thereof.

Handy to know. smile I have replaced them in the past with, in this country, items from Vauxhall, part of the GM conglomerate until they were sold to PSA in 2017, and then Stellantis.

Q. does any one know then, if 93741069 (again GM) is then the direct replacement to add the option (without the changing the keys with TVR fob cars, as some have keys with integral remote) of the switch. A@
