What?!?!

While the President of the Constitutional Court (aka The president) was on an airplane over Spain, President Donald Tusk took the opportunity to seize control of the "lawless" Constitutional Court as it's far right. Or not enough pro EU maybe.

And there's even a wikipedia page for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_of_Bogdan...

Previous Government loads highest Court with political appointees to tip the Law in their favour. New Government vows to restore Judicial neutrality and prosecute corruption by new appointees. President prefers old Government and biased Court so prevents appointing new neutral Judges and backs immunity for corrupt political Judges.

Government trying to govern and President trying to protect his mates.

Not really a coup since it's coming from the government itself. More a constitutional crisis from issues that have been going on for years.

Ive been to Warsaw recently. An amazing city and a far cry from most other European capital cities. It actually feels Polish in a way that Paris certainly doesn't feel French.

You feel safe walking the streets, there aren't lucky lucky blokes selling tat on the floor next to all of the tourist attractions.

Theyve defied the EU for this long RE immigration and that looks unlikely to change in the near future looking at the opinion polls, so force and egregious misuse of the Judiciary it is.

that does sound like he tried a coup. Call it whatever you want, but this is how the EU operates. Like a loan shark mob. Once you're in, your payments increase and you can never get rid

I think this would be reported differently if it was a right wing government doing this.

It's still the "this" that matters.

yes

The "this" is indeed that. Same old EU arrogance and control freakery.

It's always funny when one side abuses rule of law to excuse 'restoring' it as the justification. What goes about comes about, the previous mob were very keen on fitting up the court 'their' way so payback is a bh......

I agree all you need to do is look at the resounding success of Brexit and wonder why have others have not left

No-one has been offered the choice, in case they make the ‘wrong’ decision.

Got back from Gdansk yesterday. There can't be nicer port town in Northern Europe. Beautiful, safe and clean. They're doing something right.

Had a few days in Krakow earlier in the year

Lovely place and echo all the above

Will be going again next year

No Greggs, bookies, charity shops, vapes and endless barbers

You mean Tusks party who tried to fill the court with their judges weeks before they lost power in the elections in 2015?

It's possible this may not end too well for Tusk who's already seen as a "traitor" selling out Polish interests to the European Union.

Is that equating Cameron to Tusk...if so I hope it goes all the way. The decision is one for polish citizens not some know-better-but-don't politician.
