NOS

Any one fitted NOS? I am going for a fairly small increase - 70-80 bhp as a starter, but worried about where to site the NOS bottle. If i put it in the engine bay area, would this be an issue? Not sure what sort of heat a NOS bottle can take?
Anyone had good or bad experiences? Just want to shave off some time for next years drag race at Thorney Island.

They sell heater blankets to heat the nos up - so sticking it the engine bay should keep it pretty toasty!
Seriously though - I would think the passenger footwell would suit, as when your'e not using it (?!) you could remove the bottle.

Here's a few things worth considering, before adding NOS.

pistons - are they up to it? Forged units are a plus here!

cam - you might can change the cam, to one with a bit more exhaust duration, to help exit all the extra exhaust from the cylinders.

fuel pressure/flow - make sure you can supply the extra juice required or you'll lean it out and start detonating!

I think Jeff Shcwartz had a bottle on his LS6 at the US Gathering last year. Didn't look ~this year~ to see if it was still there.

Jeff has his NOS connected to his helmet, he says it works just fine.

And it works on the LS6 engine as well.
I've increased the HP 110 at the tires with a hidden single fogger nozzle. I've used several 10# bottles with the stock cast pistons and all with no issues.
Using the same single 255 LPH HOlley pump that feeds the EFI just Tee'd off the supply to the rails. Should do 9's in the 1/4 mile at 142 mph or so.
