I've just bought the Amati 'Endeavour' racing yacht 1:80 kit, but the sheet of fabric provided for the sail is printed with hideous fake stitch marks that would wreck the look of the model. The photo on the box shows plain fabric which is much nicer.

Can anyone recommend a fabric that would look right at the scale, and can be easily sewn in a sewing machine?

Model aircraft silk would likely be about right; though it s not all that easy to find these days.

Thanks; are they ready-made sails? I'm just looking for the fabric that I can cut and sew.

This is a display model so needs to look authentic, as opposed to a r/c yacht.
