Don't have any first hand experience but there's plenty of reviews on this site. www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/samsung-d600.htm

Poor you.

I just got rid of my E820. I ordered cos I thought the design was ingenious, and sure enough, the design proved to be the only thing I liked about it. Nokia seems to be the only company capable of making intuitive software with the features you actually want.

Best example of this is the simple ring/vibrate function: On Nokias, you can have ring, vibrate, or both, or neither. On Samsungs, you can have ring, or vibrate. There's no "silent" mode - if you want silent, you have to turn your phone off.

Samsungs are riddled with things like that - small, seemingly insignificant, but vital to the everyday use of your phone.

OTOH, I hope you enjoy your time with the Samsung. Me? Nokia all the way.

I just upgraded to a Samsung Z500. I tried a Nokia 6230i but that showed the usual signs of Nokia faults that caused me to look elsewhere in the first place. Ear speaker failed within a day. No data cable in the box either. I've had five Samsung phones now and they have been faultless.

I have a D500, nice phone, but when you press # it still vibrates. With Nokia you have silent, vibrate, vibrate then ring, ring only or vibrate and ring IIRC...!

You can turn the vibrate off onto mute, so no vibrate

True, but it's in a different menu. On Nokias, it's all in the same place...

I'm pleased with my D500- nice piece of kit. Probably going to keep it for a bit. Although my Finnish otherhalf keeps ribbing me for not getting an oh-so-imaginatively-designed nokia box.

I personally cant stand my D500, it was designed for 12 year olds IMHO. The alarm and text message alerts were clearly desgined for the play ground and if you go to the Java downloads it plays a tune which you can not switch off. Plus it crashes everytime I go on the web and you cant have ring and vibrate.

I have to agree that Nokia have the most simple and intuitive menu for operating and tailoring the phone to your own requirements.

I just gave my new phone to my wife and am back on my old NOKIA, superb phone and with built in hands free to use in the car.

got the phone when i got back home yesterday, and all i can say is that its really good, havent had time to check out all the features yet as ive been really busy, but from what ive seen it performs very smoothly, no lag on pressing buttons like my s700i did.

As you'll now know the D600 is a quality phone, aimed at a slightly older age group IMHO. It's built well (as all Samsungs are) but isn't the loudest phone on the market (again, similar to most Samsung models).

The camera on the D600 is not quite as good as the specs imply; 2.0 megapixel in quality, but the restrictive lense means that pic quality isn't much better than a 1.3 megapixel Nokia, and certainly not as good as the 2.0 megapixel on the Sony Ericsson K750i and W800i.

Let us know how you get on in terms of battery life.

Nokia all the way here. I've had 2 samsungs and both have been a pain in the arse. I cant stand the crap rings - theres not even 1 normal ring. Highly embarrssing when your phone rings 'the dancing cat' tune or something equally ridiculous in a business meeting or something !!

ah but you see this '600 does has a normal ring tone! which i am quite happy about.

i think that the camera is quite good, although havent downloaded any pics to my pc yet so cant tell about quality, but they look good on the phone
