Hello all,

New to the gym and use hotel gym regular. I dont really know what I'm doing and just bumble around from one piece of equipment to another.

Is it worth getting a PT - to write a programme for me / show me what to do? I don't want a full blown gym membership as I'm away with work most of the week (and can use hotel gyms) and then it's family time back home.

Can the gym give you an induction? There are plenty of apps etc that can give you a programme, you just need someone to show you some basic form so you dont hurt yourself. Lots of apps have videos etc as well.

No real need for a PT unless you really dont know what you are doing.

You need to decide what your goal is first.

Echoing what's above, figure out your goals and work from there. If you know how to use the machines, the you could just use ChatGPT to write you a plan to start off with. It'll get you started and comfortable with going to the gym before you could go down the route of a PT. I'd also download the Hevy app, the free version has a couple of workout plans and you can use it to track workouts, and the paid for version will design workouts for you based on your goals.

Thanks all. I have a goal in mind but could do with speaking to a pro to show me the ropes so I don't "waste my time" in there and get the best out of it. Enjoying it so far....
