Don’t watch any news but have caught wind of the government warning of 3 day power cuts.

Is it true? What sort of things are you doing to prepare?

Apologies if there’s a thread already on it , I did a search but nothing seemed to come up.

I’m south coast if that makes a difference.

Cheers all.

I don't think the govt have said there will be three day power cuts but instead to have enough supplies on hand to last for three days should some unspecified situation (which could include, but is not limited to, extended power cuts) happen that requires it.

You need this thread,

Will range from “I’ve got a spare Pot Noodle” to “I’ve built a nuclear fallout shelter” but there’s some good pointers in there. smile

It's not really that big of a deal. Having grown up in a rural location during he 1970s and 80s, I'm used to power cuts as we'd have several every winter – mostly due to trees falling over and taking the power lines out on the moor.

I'd have a topped-up powerbank, a couple of torches, and enough food staples in the cupboard to feed everyone for a few days (doesn't need to be complicated, a big bag of pasta, a couple of jars of pesto and some tinned beans will do the job)

Never mind, we can all go and live in Ed Milliband's house because it was his insane lunge to the net zero fantasy that left so little resilience in the system.

A tree knocking over a power line is an accident, but this was an entirely predictable consequence of deliberate actions. Well done HM Gov, another fine mess.

Didn't have to be rural in the 70s for power cuts, 3 day week etc. Fun times when trying to study for O levels.

Not just power cuts, it's good to have some basic supplies in stock in case of bad weather.
So you don't need to drive to Waitrose on the iciest day of the year etc.

Our little town falls apart quickly because 4 of the 5 shops that sell milk all use the same supplier. Now we know that, we keep a pint in the freezer.
