When I read the news I thought he had a cardiac arrest on the pitch or was involved in a car accident or similar, didn't realise it was an accident on the pitch.

Absolute tragedy. The way the keeper walked away without even checking to see how the injured player was, was disgusting and in my mind he knows he has done exactly what he meant to do, which was to hurt him. He walked off knowing he was going to be sent off.
Could an involuntary manslaughter charge be brought against him? Certainly meant to hurt the opposition striker with that challenge

I'm old enough to have seen the Harald Schumacher assault on Battiston live. This is very reminiscent of that, with awful consequences.
