What did I see?
Discussion
Earlier today I found myself following a car I didn't recognise. It was a lovely little thing and was being driven enthusiastically. I was tempted to commit the registration number to memory to look it up when I got home but remembered it would be recorded by my dashcam, so I didn't. In any case, I felt sure that these days, a few minutes typing the description into ChatGPT would have given me my answer without having to faff about replaying footage and looking up the reg.
Sadly I was wrong. AI has drawn a blank and my wonderful collection of on-car cameras was recording bugger all, it transpired. No idea why. Better I find out now for trivial reasons and fix it though I suppose.
Anyway... the upshot is that the identity of the mystery car has been driving me a bit mad this evening so I thought I would open it up to the actual intelligence found on here, to see whether we can succeed where artificial intelligence has failed.
The car was a 1966 D registered two door coupe. It was small and looked not dissimilar to a GT6 but it was definitely not as angular at the back as a GT6. It had a kamm tail, a single exhaust mounted centrally, the fuel filler was on the nearside C-pillar. It had a little boot rather than a hatch. The only identifying mark on the back was a little round badge to the right of the registration plate. The badge had what looked like a capital A on it. I'm fairly sure the lights were little lozenge shaped clusters mounted horizontally. It had wire wheels, though I don't suppose that tells us anything, and there seemed to be a bit of space behind the driver, so perhaps there were some little seats in the back - who knows?
I'd assumed the car was one of those low-volume, Triumph or MG based things found in the 60s, but a good root around has revealed nothing of the sort so far.
On the off chance anybody knows the actual car, it was a sort of french blue colour and was travelling to Hitchin.
Any ideas?
