I am thinking about taking my car on a track and being rather new to this was talking to a couple of people who said that the tracks sell different RON fuel of up to 100?

Is this true?

What effect would this have on the car?

With the engine not having an electronic management system, would the fuel not burn earlier and would this mean any changes?

If you leave the engine alone, it'll work fine (and be less susceptable to pinking, which can sometimes be an advantage). If you had the engine tuned to take advantage of the higher octane rating, you could advance the ignition further without it pinking, potentially releasing more power but also increasing local overheating problems within the cylinders. This might for example increase the risk of burning valves.

Thanks for that. I am new to this game, so not really sure what to do. I certainly don't need the extra performance at my stage of driving ability.

Where are the best tracks for novice drivers such as myself and should I wait until spring/summer to go?

If 100 RON is the same as 100 octane, it certainly worked for Spitfires in WW2!
