a little knocking noise

1996 N reg Chim 400.
A slight knocking noise can be heard from the nearside front wheel if there is a bump in the road as im turning or going round a round about.
No knock in a straight line over speed bumps etc, no noise as im doing a 17 point turn.
Any ideas?

I have the same noise I think. It's almost a dull crack/knock and I can feel it reverberate through to the pedals when it does it.
I've found rotating the car on the drive axis, i.e mounting a kerb to (illegally) park with two wheels will invariably cause the same noise.

Would be interested if you make any progress on this.

I get the same on my 95 Chim. A main dealer has just replaced some bushes under warranty, but I still get this noise. Although it doesn't sound correct, it can't be too bad otherwise they would have spotted something else to replace - I hope! (Mind you, the rest of their service was pretty abysmal so maybe not!)Again, I am interested to see what responses you get.

Small mouse with a hammer? He's stuck in the wheel and doesn't like you shaking him around?

...and vaguely more helpful (possibly). Is your anti-roll bar intact and in place? I had a nasty habit of having the bar snap near the end on my Griff. Gives a nice little clonk anytime you shake the wheel about!

Possibly best to get them up on ramps and give everything a wobble?

Also check your wheel nuts are all tight
